Fortunately, Puebla (located 65 miles from Mexico City in a valley dominated by mountains and volcanoes) puts on a celebration to make up for the rest of the country. Don’t let the location scare you off, however – the region is a beautiful one, natives are warm and welcoming to visitors, and the Puebla Cinco de Mayo celebration is THE celebration, combining the best in regional traditional foods, music and dancing to rightfully commemorate its 1862 victory.

I don’t know the numbers that attend, but Detroit can certainly rival Chicago when it comes to folks in attendance at the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. In fact, many come up just for Detroit’s festival and parade.
Chicago is a lovely town and I get there as often as I can. But Detroit is the place to be for Cinco de Mayo!

    Hey Rubi,
That’s a great suggestion for people to check out Detroit! The city on its own is full of experiences, and now that I know they celebrate Cinco with the best of them - I’m going to add this to my list of “Must Do’s!”
Thanks for the comment - make sure you tell all your friends about our blog…I wonder if they know of any cool spots to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
    Thanks!
